Loose condenser fan blade, Loose cabinet panels or screws, Debris lodged in fan grille, Fan motor out of balance
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the disconnect before touching the unit.
- 1. Inspect exterior: Check all cabinet panels and the top grille. Tighten any loose screws with a nut driver or screwdriver.
- 2. Check for debris: Look through the top grille for sticks, leaves, or other objects contacting the fan blade. Remove debris with power OFF.
- 3. Fan blade inspection: With power OFF, gently wiggle the fan blade. It should be firmly attached to the motor shaft. Tighten the set screw if loose.
- 4. Level the unit: Ensure the condenser is sitting level on its pad. Shim the pad if necessary to reduce vibration.
- 5. If noise persists: The fan motor or blade may be out of balance and should be evaluated and replaced by a technician.
