Possible Causes

Indoor fan motor hall sensor failure, Obstructed blower wheel, Loose fan motor connector, Indoor PCB fan drive circuit fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the indoor fan assembly. Beware of sharp plastic edges and coil fins.

Steps to try:

  • Check for obstructions: Remove the front cover and inspect the blower wheel for foreign objects (plastic, insulation, etc.). Remove any debris.
  • Clean blower wheel: Heavy dust buildup can unbalance the wheel and affect speed sensing. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • Inspect motor wiring: Ensure the multi-pin connector from the fan motor to the PCB is fully seated.
  • Test fan speeds: After restoring power, cycle through fan speeds. If F6 appears when changing speeds, the motor or PCB may be faulty.

When to call a pro: If cleaning and connector checks do not resolve F6, the indoor fan motor assembly or indoor PCB will likely need replacement.
