Indoor unit powers on but will not respond to remote control commands

Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks.

Steps to try:

• Replace batteries: Install new batteries in the remote and ensure correct orientation.
• Check remote output: Point the remote at a smartphone camera and press a button; you should see the IR LED flash on the screen.
• Clear line of sight: Remove any objects blocking the front of the indoor unit where the IR receiver is located.
• Use manual controls: If available, press the ON/OFF or MODE button on the indoor unit to verify it can operate without the remote.

When to call a pro: If a known-good remote does not control the unit, the IR receiver or indoor PCB may need replacement.
