Possible Causes
Outdoor coil icing, Low ambient temperature, Defrost sensor triggering, Normal operation extended due to conditions
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: H1 on many Pro Breeze heat pump models indicates an active defrost cycle, not a fault.
- Step 1 – Allow defrost to complete:
- Leave the unit powered on; the outdoor/condenser coil will warm to melt ice.
- Heating will resume automatically when defrost ends.
- Step 2 – Check airflow and drainage:
- Ensure outdoor coil has good airflow and is not blocked by snow, leaves, or debris.
- Verify condensate drains freely so melted ice does not refreeze on the coil.
- Step 3 – If H1 persists excessively:
- Clean the outdoor/condenser coil.
- Have a technician check the Defrost Sensor and refrigerant charge.
Continuous H1 without normal heating may indicate a sensor or control issue requiring service.
