Possible Causes

Failed DC indoor fan motor, Obstructed blower wheel or clogged filter, Faulty fan speed feedback signal to indoor PCB, Loose fan motor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Wait for the indoor fan to stop completely before working.

  • Clean filters and coil: Open the front panel and remove air filters. Wash and dry them thoroughly. Inspect the blower wheel and evaporator coil for dust buildup and clean as needed.
  • Check fan rotation: Spin the blower wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If it binds, check for foreign objects or misaligned housing.
  • Inspect wiring: Locate the indoor fan motor connector on the PCB. Reseat the plug and check for corrosion or heat damage.
  • Test motor (if accessible): With power off, check for obvious burn smell or discoloration on the motor. If the fan does not start at all or only jerks, the DC motor is likely defective and must be replaced with the correct Rheem motor assembly.

Warning: Do not lubricate sealed DC fan motors. Use only manufacturer-approved replacement parts.
