Possible Causes

Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked or kinked drain hose, Faulty float switch or water level sensor, Improper indoor unit leveling causing pan overflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the indoor unit. Have towels or a container ready for any water spillage.

  • Check drain line: Locate the condensate drain hose exiting the indoor unit. Ensure it is not kinked or elevated above the unit outlet.
  • Clear blockage: Use a wet/dry vacuum at the drain line termination outside to suck out algae, sludge, or debris. Alternatively, blow low-pressure air through the line from the indoor side.
  • Inspect float switch: Remove the indoor front cover and access the drain pan. Locate the float switch or water level sensor. Make sure it moves freely and is not stuck in the up (full) position.
  • Level the unit: Use a level to confirm the indoor unit is slightly pitched toward the drain outlet. Adjust mounting if necessary.
  • Test operation: After clearing the line and resetting the float, restore power and run in cooling mode. Confirm steady water flow from the drain outside.

Warning: Do not use high-pressure air that could blow the drain line apart inside walls or ceilings.
