How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off all power to the outdoor unit.
- Locate sensor: Find the thermistor clipped to the large-diameter copper suction line entering the compressor or coil.
- Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clamped and insulated as per Rheem design. Re-secure if loose.
- Inspect wiring: Look for chafed insulation or loose connectors. Repair or replace as needed.
- Test sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance. Compare to Rheem’s chart. Replace if readings are abnormal.
