Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Cracked or rusted drain pan, Improperly sloped drain line, Disconnected drain at air handler or indoor coil pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the air handler. Be prepared for water spillage when opening panels.
- Clear drain line: Locate the condensate drain outlet near the indoor unit. Use a wet/dry vacuum to clear the line from the outside termination.
- Inspect drain pan: Remove the access panel and inspect the primary and secondary drain pans for cracks or rust-through. Replace damaged pans.
- Check slope: Ensure the drain line slopes continuously downward away from the unit. Adjust supports if necessary.
- Flush line: After clearing, pour a mixture of water and a small amount of vinegar or approved condensate cleaner into the drain pan to flush the line.
Warning: Water leaks can cause structural damage and mold. Address promptly.
