Possible Causes

Failed stepper motor for louvers, Broken louver linkage or gears, Obstruction preventing movement, Faulty indoor PCB louver drive circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the indoor unit before manually moving louvers.

  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the louvers for objects or dirt buildup preventing movement. Remove any obstructions.
  • Manual movement: Gently move the louvers by hand. If they are very stiff or jammed, the linkage may be broken.
  • Inspect motor and linkage: Remove the front cover to access the louver motor and linkage. Look for broken plastic arms or stripped gears.
  • Replace motor/linkage: Replace the louver motor assembly or linkage kit with the correct Rheem part if defective.

Warning: Do not force louvers; this can strip gears and worsen the problem.
