Possible Causes
Dirty or damaged blower wheel, Loose blower wheel on shaft, Missing mounting screws or isolation pads, Bent motor shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the indoor unit. Blower assemblies can be heavy and awkward to handle.
- Step 1 – Inspect blower wheel: Remove blower access panel and visually inspect the wheel for dirt buildup or broken fins. Clean thoroughly with a brush and vacuum.
- Step 2 – Check wheel mounting: Verify the set screw on the blower hub is tight on the motor shaft and the wheel is centered in the housing.
- Step 3 – Tighten mounting hardware: Ensure all blower housing mounting screws and vibration isolators are intact and tight.
- Step 4 – Motor shaft check: If vibration persists, the motor shaft may be bent. Replace the motor and possibly the wheel if damage is severe.
