Blocked outdoor condenser coil, Low refrigerant charge, Faulty discharge temperature sensor, Failing compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigerant circuit. Only certified technicians may handle refrigerant.
- Step 1 – Clean outdoor coil:
- Turn off power at the breaker.
- Remove debris, leaves, and obstructions around the outdoor unit (at least 30–60 cm clearance).
- Use a soft brush or low-pressure water spray to clean the condenser fins from top to bottom. Avoid bending fins.
- Step 2 – Check airflow indoors: Ensure indoor filters are clean and all supply and return air paths are unobstructed.
- Step 3 – Restart and monitor: Restore power, run the unit in COOL mode, and monitor for recurrence of E104.
- Technician tasks: If E104 returns, a technician should check refrigerant charge, discharge temperature sensor, and compressor operation. Overheating can permanently damage the compressor if ignored.
