Safety first: Turn off power before adjusting internal sensors.

• Step 1 – Check sensor placement: Ensure the room temperature sensor is not hanging directly in the cold air discharge. It should be near the return air path.
• Step 2 – Clean filters and coils: Dirty components can cause coil icing and erratic operation. Clean as described earlier.
• Step 3 – Adjust setpoint and fan speed: Try a slightly higher temperature setting and medium fan speed to reduce rapid cycling.
• Step 4 – Evaluate capacity: If the unit is significantly oversized for the room, short cycling is expected. Consider using a lower capacity unit or zoning.
• Technician recommended: If short cycling persists, have a technician check refrigerant charge and control logic.
