Possible Causes

Seized or obstructed outdoor fan, Failed DC outdoor fan motor, Loose or corroded fan motor connector, Faulty outdoor PCB fan driver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the outdoor unit breaker. The fan can start unexpectedly if power is present.

  • Check for obstructions: Remove the top grille or side panel (depending on model). Clear any leaves, plastic, or debris blocking the fan blades.
  • Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. It should move smoothly. If stiff or grinding, replace the outdoor fan motor.
  • Inspect wiring: Locate the fan motor connector on the outdoor PCB. Reseat it and check for corrosion or damaged wires.
  • Test operation: Restore power and run the unit. If the fan does not start or starts then stops and E7 appears, the motor or driver is suspect.
  • Replace motor first: In most cases, replace the outdoor DC fan motor with a Sharp-specified part. If E7 persists with a new motor, the outdoor PCB fan driver is likely faulty and the board must be replaced.
