Possible Causes
Severely blocked indoor coil, Indoor fan not running properly, Refrigerant flow restriction, Faulty coil thermistor reading too high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before cleaning or inspecting internal parts.
- Clean indoor coil: Remove filters and inspect the coil. If heavily clogged with dust, use a soft brush and vacuum to clean. For deeper cleaning, use a coil-safe cleaner following the product instructions.
- Verify fan operation: Ensure the indoor fan runs at all speeds. If it is slow or intermittent, check for obstructions and consider replacing the fan motor.
- Thermistor position: Confirm the coil sensor is properly clipped to the coil. A sensor hanging in free air can misread and trigger E9.
- Refrigerant / system issues: If airflow is good and the sensor is correct but E9 persists, there may be a refrigerant or expansion valve problem causing abnormal coil temperatures. This must be diagnosed by a professional with gauges and Sharp service data.
