Possible Causes

Open or shorted condenser thermistor, Sensor detached from coil, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker before working on the outdoor unit.

  • Locate the coil sensor: Find the thermistor clipped to the outdoor coil tubing or fins. It will have two small wires leading back to the PCB.
  • Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil. Reattach if loose so it accurately senses coil temperature.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Look for damage or corrosion. Reseat the connector on the outdoor PCB.
  • Replace sensor if needed: If resistance is out of spec or the sensor is physically damaged, replace it with a Sharp-compatible outdoor coil thermistor.
  • PCB replacement: If F2 persists with a known-good sensor, the outdoor PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced.
