Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Weak or failing compressor, Blocked capillary or expansion valve, Severely dirty indoor or outdoor coils
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigerant circuit yourself. Turn off power before cleaning coils.
- Check basic settings: Ensure the unit is set to COOL mode with a temperature at least 3–5°C below room temperature and that the fan speed is not on FAN-only mode.
- Clean filters and coils: Wash indoor filters and clean both indoor and outdoor coils to restore airflow.
- Outdoor unit check: Confirm the outdoor fan and compressor are running (you should hear the compressor and feel warm air from the outdoor unit). If the outdoor unit is silent, there may be an electrical or compressor fault.
- Professional diagnosis: If airflow is good but cooling is weak, a technician should check refrigerant pressures, look for leaks, and test compressor performance. Leaks must be repaired and the system evacuated and recharged to the exact Sharp specification.
