Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Misaligned or cracked drain pan, Poor installation tilt (unit not slightly sloped toward drain), Frozen evaporator coil melting and overflowing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the unit and breaker before working near water and electrical parts.
- Check filters and coil: Clean dirty filters and coil to prevent icing and excess condensate.
- Clear drain line: Locate the drain outlet outside. Use a wet/dry vacuum on the outlet to suck out sludge and algae. Alternatively, blow compressed air gently from the indoor side if accessible.
- Verify unit level: The indoor unit should be slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting if water pools on the opposite side.
- Inspect drain pan: Remove the front cover and inspect the plastic drain pan for cracks or dislodged sections. Replace the pan if damaged.
- Persistent leaks: If leakage continues, have a technician inspect for coil icing due to refrigerant or airflow issues.
