Possible Causes

Dirty indoor evaporator coil, Clogged air filter in SMEG indoor unit, Low refrigerant charge, Faulty indoor fan motor causing low airflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the unit and isolate power before opening the indoor cover.

  • Clean or replace air filters: Open the front panel of the SMEG indoor unit, remove the mesh filters, and wash them with mild detergent and water. Let them dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Inspect evaporator coil: With filters removed, visually check the aluminum fins. If heavily dusted or iced, allow ice to melt (leave unit off for several hours) and then gently clean with a soft brush or coil cleaner.
  • Check indoor fan operation: Turn the unit back on and verify the indoor fan runs at all speed settings. If the fan is slow, noisy, or fails to start, the indoor fan motor or capacitor may be failing.
  • Verify room airflow: Ensure no furniture or curtains block the air inlet or outlet of the indoor unit.

If E2 recurs after cleaning and airflow checks, the system may have low refrigerant or a sensor issue; contact a technician for pressure and leak testing.
