Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain hose, Kinked or improperly routed drain line, Failed drain pump (on cassette/ducted models), Blocked drain pan outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the unit. Water may spill when opening panels.
- Check drain hose: For wall splits, inspect the outside end of the drain hose. Clear any mud, algae, or insect nests. Ensure the hose slopes downward continuously.
- Clean drain pan outlet: Remove the indoor front cover and filters. Locate the drain pan and outlet. Use a flexible brush or pipe cleaner to remove sludge.
- Flush the drain: Use a wet/dry vacuum at the hose outlet to suck out blockages, or gently flush with water from the indoor side.
- Drain pump models: On cassette or ducted SMEG units with a drain pump, listen for pump operation. If silent and the pan is full, the pump or float switch may be faulty and require replacement.
After clearing the drain, reset the unit by disconnecting power for a few minutes.
