Possible Causes
Failed outdoor DC fan motor, Blocked fan blades, Faulty fan motor driver circuit on outdoor PCB, Loose fan motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power before working on the outdoor fan.
- Check for obstructions: Remove leaves, plastic, or ice blocking the fan blades.
- Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand; it should move freely without scraping.
- Inspect connector: Ensure the multi-pin connector from the fan motor to the PCB is fully seated.
- Test operation: Restore power and observe fan start-up. If it jerks, stalls, or does not start, the motor or driver is likely faulty.
Replace the outdoor fan motor with the correct SMEG DC motor assembly if defective. If a new motor does not resolve F5, the outdoor PCB may need replacement.
