Possible Causes
Faulty touch control panel, Loose ribbon cable between panel and PCB, Liquid ingress into control panel, Failed display/receiver board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the front panel.
- Use remote: Confirm that the unit can still be controlled via the remote; this isolates the fault to the local keypad.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front cover and check that the flat cable from the keypad/display board to the PCB is firmly seated.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of water or cleaning fluid inside the panel; dry thoroughly if present.
- Replace panel: If unresponsive, replace the keypad/display board with the correct SMEG part.
After replacement, test all buttons and basic functions.
