Indoor unit displays E0 and will not start cooling or heating
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the air conditioner using the remote, then switch OFF the circuit breaker or unplug the unit. Wait at least 5 minutes before touching any internal components.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Restore power after 5–10 minutes. Try operating the unit again. Many TCL models will clear transient E0 faults after a full power reset.
- Step 2 – Check indoor front panel and display board: Remove the front cover (for wall split units) and verify the display/indicator board harness is firmly connected to the indoor main PCB. Reseat the connector.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring harness: Look for pinched, burnt, or loose wires between the display board and the indoor main PCB. Repair or replace damaged harnesses.
- Step 4 – Check for signs of surge damage: Look at the indoor PCB for burn marks, swollen capacitors, or a burnt smell. If present, the board is likely defective.
- Step 5 – Replace indoor PCB: If E0 persists after reset and wiring checks, the indoor main control board (with EEPROM) is likely faulty and should be replaced with the exact TCL part number for your model.
Warning: Do not attempt component-level board repair unless you are qualified. High voltages may remain on capacitors even after power is removed.
