Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge in TCL system, Dirty or blocked indoor air filter, Evaporator coil heavily clogged with dust, Indoor fan motor running too slowly or not at all
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the unit and disconnect power before cleaning or opening panels.
- Step 1 – Clean air filters: Open the front panel of the indoor unit, remove the filters, and wash them with mild soap and water. Let them dry completely and reinstall.
- Step 2 – Check airflow: Ensure supply and return air are not blocked by furniture, curtains, or covers. Set the fan speed to HIGH and test again.
- Step 3 – Inspect evaporator coil: With power off, gently lift the front panel and visually inspect the evaporator coil. If it is covered with dust or ice, allow it to thaw completely, then clean with a soft brush or coil cleaner designed for AC units.
- Step 4 – Verify indoor fan operation: Turn power back on and run FAN mode. Confirm the indoor fan runs smoothly at all speeds. If it is slow, noisy, or not starting, the indoor fan motor or capacitor may be failing.
- Step 5 – Refrigerant check: If E2 recurs after cleaning and airflow checks, the system may be low on refrigerant or have a restriction. A licensed HVAC technician must connect gauges, locate leaks, repair them, and recharge the TCL system to the specified amount.
Warning: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigerant circuit yourself. Refrigerant handling requires certification and specialized tools.
