Possible Causes
Indoor and outdoor units receiving conflicting mode commands, Faulty indoor PCB logic, Stuck 4-way reversing valve coil, Incorrect wiring between multiple indoor units (multi-split systems)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the system at the breaker before inspecting wiring.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. Try setting the unit to COOL only, then HEAT only (if heat pump) and observe if E7 reappears.
- Step 2 – Check multi-split configuration: If you have multiple TCL indoor units on one outdoor, ensure all indoor units are set to the same mode (all COOL or all HEAT). Mixed modes can trigger E7 on some systems.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Verify that indoor units are correctly wired to the outdoor unit according to the TCL wiring diagram. Correct any cross-wiring.
- Step 4 – Reversing valve check (technician): A technician should verify that the 4-way valve coil is energizing and that the valve shifts properly between heating and cooling. Replace the coil or valve if stuck.
Warning: Incorrect wiring can damage PCBs. If unsure, consult a qualified technician with TCL documentation.
