Possible Causes

Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked drain pan outlet, Faulty float switch in indoor unit, Improper installation causing poor drainage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power before working near the drain system.

  • Step 1 – Check for water leakage: Remove the front panel and inspect the drain pan. If full of water, the drain is likely blocked.
  • Step 2 – Clear drain line: Locate the condensate drain hose at the back or side of the indoor unit. Use a wet/dry vacuum at the hose outlet outside the building to suck out clogs. Alternatively, gently blow compressed air from the indoor side outward.
  • Step 3 – Clean drain pan: Remove debris, algae, or slime from the pan using a cloth and mild detergent. Ensure the drain outlet is clear.
  • Step 4 – Check float switch: If your TCL model has a float switch, verify it moves freely and is not stuck in the up (full) position. Replace the float switch if defective.
  • Step 5 – Verify slope: Ensure the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side so water flows out properly.

Warning: Do not use harsh chemicals in the drain line that could damage plastic components.
