TCL
Defrost / Preheating Indication (often normal operation)
Unit shows H1 and does not blow warm air immediately in heating mode

Possible Causes
Outdoor unit in defrost mode, Indoor anti-cold air function active, Low outdoor temperature causing extended defrost cycles
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
H1 on many TCL heat pump models is an informational code, not a fault.
- Step 1 – Wait for defrost to complete: In HEAT mode, the outdoor unit may enter defrost. H1 will display and indoor fan may stop to prevent cold drafts. This can last several minutes.
- Step 2 – Check outdoor coil: If defrost is frequent, inspect the outdoor coil for heavy frost or ice buildup and ensure the fan and coil are clean.
- Step 3 – Verify drainage: Ensure melted frost can drain away from the outdoor unit and is not refreezing around the base.
- Step 4 – Service if abnormal: If H1 stays on continuously and heating never resumes, a technician should check the defrost sensor and control logic.
Warning: Do not attempt to chip ice off the outdoor coil with sharp tools; this can puncture refrigerant tubes.
