Possible Causes
Faulty defrost sensor on TCL outdoor unit, Defrost control malfunction on PCB, Outdoor fan not running correctly, Very low ambient temperature with high humidity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the unit if ice is severe.
- Step 1 – Allow natural defrost: Turn the system off and let ice melt. Do not use sharp tools.
- Step 2 – Check outdoor fan: Ensure the fan runs properly in HEAT mode.
- Step 3 – Sensor and PCB (technician): A technician should test the defrost sensor and defrost control on the PCB and replace faulty parts.
- Step 4 – Improve drainage: Ensure melted ice can drain away and not refreeze around the base.
Warning: Operating with a fully iced coil can damage the compressor and drastically reduce heating.
