Possible Causes
Defective evaporator thermistor, Sensor out of position on coil, Broken sensor wiring, Faulty indoor control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power to the indoor unit.
Steps:
- 1. Access coil area: Remove the front cover and filters to expose the evaporator coil.
- 2. Locate coil sensor: The thermistor is clipped to the coil tubing. Ensure it is firmly attached and making good contact.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors.
- 4. Reseat connector: Unplug and replug the sensor connector on the board to ensure a good connection.
- 5. Test operation: Restore power and run the unit. If F2 returns, the sensor likely needs replacement by a technician.
