Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked drain trap, Cracked or misaligned drain pan, Failed condensate pump (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power to the air handler/furnace. Be cautious of wet areas near electrical components.
Steps:
- 1. Locate drain line: Find the PVC drain exiting the Tempstar evaporator coil or air handler.
- 2. Clear blockage: Use a wet/dry vacuum on the outside drain termination to suck out clogs. You can also pour a small amount of warm water and vinegar into the drain pan to help clear slime.
- 3. Check drain pan: Inspect the primary and secondary pans for cracks or rust-through.
- 4. Condensate pump: If present, ensure the pump has power and the float moves freely. Clean the pump reservoir.
- 5. Restart and monitor: After clearing, restore power and observe for leaks.
