Possible Causes

Blocked indoor fan wheel, Failed indoor DC fan motor, Faulty fan motor hall sensor, Defective indoor fan driver circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the breaker and wait for the indoor fan to stop completely before opening the unit.

  • Step 1 – Remove filters and front panel: Open the front cover, remove air filters, and visually inspect the cross-flow fan (drum) for dust buildup or foreign objects.
  • Step 2 – Clean and free the fan: Remove any debris (plastic bags, insulation, insects). Rotate the fan by hand; it should spin freely without scraping. If stiff, the motor bearings may be failing.
  • Step 3 – Deep clean: Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove heavy dust from the fan wheel and coil. Excess dust can overload the motor.
  • Step 4 – Check motor wiring: Remove the electrical cover and verify the indoor fan motor connector is fully seated on the indoor PCB. Look for burnt pins.
  • Step 5 – Test run: Restore power and run in fan-only mode. If the fan does not start or E03 returns, the DC fan motor assembly or PCB driver is likely defective and should be replaced.
