Possible Causes

Open or shorted room thermistor, Disconnected room sensor plug, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty indoor PCB analog input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing covers.

  • Step 1 – Locate room sensor: The room temperature sensor is usually near the air intake grille on the indoor unit. Remove the front panel to access it.
  • Step 2 – Check mounting and wiring: Ensure the sensor is not hanging loose and is positioned in the airflow. Inspect the cable for damage and confirm the connector is firmly attached to the indoor PCB.
  • Step 3 – Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to Toshiba specifications for the ambient temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • Step 4 – Replace sensor if needed: Install a genuine or compatible Toshiba room temperature sensor. Secure it in the original location.
  • Step 5 – Test: Restore power, clear the error by power-cycling, and verify the unit responds correctly to temperature setpoint changes.
