Possible Causes
Open or shorted compressor discharge thermistor, Loose sensor clamp on discharge pipe, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the unit to cool before working near the compressor discharge line (it can be extremely hot).
- Step 1 – Locate discharge sensor: Open the outdoor unit panel. Find the sensor clamped to the small-diameter copper pipe leaving the compressor.
- Step 2 – Inspect mounting: Ensure the sensor is tightly clamped to the pipe with thermal contact and insulated if originally wrapped. Re-secure if loose.
- Step 3 – Check wiring: Inspect the harness for burns or cuts. Confirm the connector is firmly seated on the outdoor PCB.
- Step 4 – Resistance test: With the sensor disconnected and the pipe at ambient temperature, measure resistance and compare to Toshiba data. Replace if readings are abnormal.
- Step 5 – Replace sensor if faulty: Install a new discharge pipe thermistor, clamp it securely, and re-insulate as per original design.
- Step 6 – Reset and test: Restore power, clear the error, and run the unit. Monitor for normal operation and absence of E07.
