Possible Causes

Stuck louver mechanism, Failed stepper motor for louver, Broken louver gear, Disconnected louver motor harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the unit and disconnect power before manually moving louvers.

  • Step 1 – Visual inspection: Check if the louvers are jammed by dirt, foreign objects, or misalignment. Gently move them by hand with power off; they should move smoothly.
  • Step 2 – Clean and free mechanism: Remove any obstructions and wipe the louver hinges with a dry cloth. Do not use oil that can attract dust.
  • Step 3 – Check motor connection: Remove the front cover and locate the small louver motor on the side. Ensure its connector is firmly attached to the PCB.
  • Step 4 – Test operation: Restore power and command swing mode. If the motor does not move or makes grinding noises, the motor or gears are likely damaged.
  • Step 5 – Replace louver motor assembly: Remove the defective motor and gear set and install a Toshiba-compatible louver motor kit.
