Possible Causes
Incorrect address setting on indoor PCB, Reversed communication polarity, Broken communication bus wiring, Faulty central controller interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the entire system before adjusting addresses or wiring.
- Step 1 – Verify wiring: Check the communication bus wiring between indoor units and any central controller. Ensure polarity (+/–) is consistent and terminals are tight.
- Step 2 – Check address settings: On each indoor PCB, verify the address DIP switches or rotary selectors are set according to the Toshiba installation manual and are unique where required.
- Step 3 – Inspect for cable damage: Look for crushed or cut communication cables, especially where they pass through walls or ceilings.
- Step 4 – Reset controller: Power down the system, wait 5–10 minutes, then power up and allow the network to reinitialize.
- Step 5 – Replace interface if needed: If E23 persists on a specific unit, its communication interface on the PCB may be defective and require replacement.
