How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to handle refrigerant without proper certification. Turn off power before removing covers.
- Step 1 – Confirm mode and settings: Ensure the unit is set to Cool mode with a temperature at least 3–5°C below room temperature and fan not in Fan Only mode.
- Step 2 – Check indoor and outdoor fans: Verify both indoor and outdoor fans are running when cooling is requested.
- Step 3 – Inspect for frost or oil: Look for ice on the indoor coil or oily stains on refrigerant pipes and joints, especially at flare connections.
- Step 4 – Clean filters and coils: Dirty filters and coils can reduce capacity. Clean them thoroughly and retest.
- Step 5 – Call a licensed technician: If airflow is good and fans run but cooling is weak, a technician must check refrigerant pressures, locate leaks, repair them, evacuate, and recharge to Toshiba specifications.
