Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge in Tosot system, Restricted airflow across indoor coil (dirty filter or coil), Faulty indoor evaporator temperature sensor (T1), Indoor fan motor not running or running too slowly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the unit before cleaning or opening panels.

  • Clean air filters: Open the front grille, remove the filters, and wash with mild soap and water. Let them dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Inspect evaporator coil: With power off, gently vacuum or brush dust from the indoor coil fins. If heavily clogged, use a coil cleaner approved for aluminum fins.
  • Check indoor fan operation: Turn the unit on and verify the indoor fan runs at all speeds. If the fan is not spinning or is noisy/slow, the fan motor or capacitor (if used) may be failing.
  • Sensor check: Locate the evaporator temperature sensor clipped to the coil. Ensure it is firmly attached and not dislodged. If E2 persists, the sensor may be out of range and should be replaced.
  • If icing continues: Low refrigerant or expansion device issues require a licensed HVAC technician to check pressures and recharge or repair the system.
