Possible Causes
Blocked or dirty outdoor condenser coil, Outdoor fan motor failure, Overcharged refrigerant, Non-condensable gases in system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the outdoor disconnect before working on the unit.
- Clear airflow: Remove any obstructions around the outdoor unit. Maintain at least 2–3 feet clearance on all sides and above.
- Clean condenser coil: With power off, wash the coil fins gently with water to remove dirt and lint.
- Check outdoor fan: Confirm the fan starts and runs at full speed when the unit is cooling. Replace the fan motor if it fails to run or is noisy and slow.
- Reset system: After cleaning and verifying fan operation, power cycle the system and test again.
- If E8 returns: A technician must check refrigerant pressures. Overcharge or contamination requires recovery, evacuation, and recharging to Tosot specifications.
