Possible Causes
Failed room thermistor behind front grille, Disconnected sensor from indoor PCB, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty indoor PCB analog input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing the front cover.
Steps to try:
- Locate room sensor: It is usually near the air intake behind the front panel, often in a small plastic holder.
- Check connection: Ensure the sensor plug is firmly connected to the indoor PCB.
- Inspect sensor body: Look for cracks or signs of moisture damage.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect and test with a multimeter at room temperature. Compare to Tristar’s thermistor chart. Replace if readings are abnormal.
When to call a technician: If a new sensor does not resolve F1, the indoor PCB may need replacement.
