Possible Causes

Indoor fan motor overheating due to blocked airflow, Fan bearings worn and causing high load, Incorrect fan speed feedback, Indoor PCB fan drive fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before opening the indoor unit.

  • Clean filters and coil: Remove and wash filters. Inspect the blower wheel and evaporator coil for heavy dust and clean carefully with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • Check fan rotation: Spin the blower wheel by hand. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing.
  • Inspect motor vents: Ensure the motor housing is not clogged with dust, which can cause overheating.
  • Test operation: Restore power and run the unit at high fan speed. If E8 reappears quickly, the motor is likely overheating internally.
  • Replace motor: Isolate power and replace the indoor fan motor assembly following the service manual procedure.
