How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the indoor unit.
- Clean filters and coil: Remove and wash filters. Inspect the blower wheel and evaporator coil for heavy dust and clean carefully with a soft brush and vacuum.
- Check fan rotation: Spin the blower wheel by hand. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Inspect motor vents: Ensure the motor housing is not clogged with dust, which can cause overheating.
- Test operation: Restore power and run the unit at high fan speed. If E8 reappears quickly, the motor is likely overheating internally.
- Replace motor: Isolate power and replace the indoor fan motor assembly following the service manual procedure.
