Possible Causes
Faulty indoor fan motor with built-in tachometer, Blocked blower wheel, Faulty fan speed detection circuit on PCB, Loose fan motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power before opening the indoor unit.
- Clean blower: Remove dust buildup from the blower wheel, which can slow the fan and cause speed errors.
- Check connector: Ensure the multi-pin fan motor connector is fully seated on the PCB.
- Observe fan speed: Run the unit and listen for irregular fan speed changes. If the fan stalls or surges, replace the motor.
- PCB check: If a new motor still triggers E8, the indoor PCB may not be reading the tach signal correctly and should be replaced.
