Possible Causes
Drifted thermistor value, sensor placed in wrong location, wiring damage, PCB analog-to-digital converter fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing the front panel.
Steps:
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the indoor ambient sensor is located in the return air stream, not touching the coil or metal frame.
- Inspect wiring: Look for kinks, pinches, or cuts in the sensor leads. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
- Compare temperature: If the unit displays a room temperature that is clearly wrong (e.g., 10–15°C off), the sensor is likely faulty.
- Replace sensor: Install a new Westinghouse indoor ambient thermistor and secure it in the correct location.
- PCB check: If a new sensor does not correct the reading or clear F1, the indoor PCB may need replacement.
