Possible Causes
Failed indoor fan motor, seized blower wheel, faulty indoor fan capacitor (if used), defective indoor PCB fan relay or triac
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the indoor unit before removing the cover.
Steps:
- Check fan settings: Ensure the fan mode is not set to OFF or AUTO with no call for cooling/heating.
- Inspect blower wheel: Remove the front panel and check if the blower wheel is obstructed. Clear any debris and verify it spins freely.
- Motor test: With power off, check the motor wiring and connector. If the motor is hot and has a burnt smell, it may be failed.
- Capacitor (if present): Replace the indoor fan capacitor if the motor hums but does not start.
- PCB output: A technician should verify that the PCB is sending the correct voltage to the motor. Replace the motor or PCB as indicated by tests.
