Possible Causes
Tripped circuit breaker, blown internal fuse on PCB, faulty power cord or plug (window/portable), failed main control PCB, defective power switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Before opening the unit, unplug it or turn off the breaker.
Steps:
- Check outlet and breaker: Test the wall outlet with another appliance. Reset any tripped breakers or replace blown fuses in the home panel.
- Inspect power cord: For window and portable units, check the cord for cuts, burns, or a tripped LCD plug (if equipped). Reset the plug's test/reset buttons.
- Internal fuse: Remove the control panel and look for a small glass or blade fuse on the PCB. If blown, replace with the same rating. If it blows again, a short exists and needs professional diagnosis.
- Power switch: Verify that the on/off button or selector switch is not physically broken.
- PCB replacement: If power is present at the board but there is no response, the control PCB may be defective and require replacement.
