Possible Causes
Full internal condensate tank, blocked drain hose, faulty float switch, misaligned water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the unit off and unplug it before draining water to avoid electrical shock and spills.
Steps to clear E9:
- Empty the tank: Move the unit to a location where water spillage will not cause damage. Remove the drain plug or tank (depending on model) and drain all water into a suitable container.
- Check drain hose (if used): If a continuous drain hose is attached, ensure it is not kinked, elevated above the drain outlet, or blocked. Clean or replace the hose if clogged.
- Inspect float switch: Access the condensate collection area (usually behind a lower rear panel). Locate the float and switch assembly. Make sure the float moves freely and is not stuck by dirt or scale.
- Clean the reservoir: Wipe out any sludge or debris that could interfere with the float movement.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the drain plug or tank securely, plug in the unit, and run in COOL or DRY mode to confirm the E9 code is cleared.
If E9 returns immediately with an empty tank and free-moving float, the float switch or water level sensor may be defective and require replacement.
