Possible Causes
Drifted or failed room thermistor, sensor not positioned in airflow, wiring harness damage, control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing covers.
Steps:
- Follow the same general procedure as for an E1 ambient sensor fault: locate the room thermistor near the air intake, inspect wiring, and test resistance.
- Ensure the sensor is not touching the evaporator coil directly unless designed to do so; it should sense room air, not coil temperature.
- Replace the room temperature sensor if resistance is out of specification.
If the sensor is good, the main control board may need replacement by a technician.
