Failed touchpad or keypad, loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board, locked control (child lock), defective main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- Check for lock mode: Some Whirlpool models have a control lock feature. Refer to the user manual to unlock (often by holding a specific button for several seconds).
- Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in.
- Inspect connections: Remove the front bezel and inspect the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of liquid spills or condensation on the control board. Allow to dry completely if damp.
If the panel remains unresponsive, the keypad assembly or main control board may need replacement.
