Possible Causes
Ambient thermistor out of calibration, Sensor reading out of expected range, Loose sensor connection, Main PCB firmware issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening.
- Power reset: Disconnect power for 10 minutes and reconnect to clear transient faults.
- Check ambient sensor: Access the control area and locate the room temperature sensor near the air intake. Ensure it is not touching hot components or the evaporator coil.
- Reposition sensor: If the sensor is too close to the coil or enclosed in insulation, reposition it so it measures true room air.
- Connector check: Reseat the sensor connector on the main PCB.
- Replace sensor: If F1 persists and the sensor resistance is out of spec, replace the ambient temperature sensor.
- Board/firmware: Persistent F1 after sensor replacement may indicate a main PCB firmware issue; replace the main control PCB.
