Possible Causes
Upper condensate tank full (on dual‑tank models), Blocked upper drain line, Faulty upper float switch, Wiring issue to upper level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before servicing.
- Consult manual: On some Whynter models, P2 indicates the upper tank is full. Refer to the user manual for the exact drain location.
- Drain upper tank: Locate the upper drain plug (often higher on the rear panel). Place a container under it and remove the plug to drain water.
- Check for clogs: Use a flexible brush or pipe cleaner to clear any blockage in the upper drain port.
- Inspect upper float: Remove the rear cover to access the upper condensate tray and float switch. Ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck by debris.
- Electrical check: Verify the wiring harness from the upper float switch to the main PCB is intact and firmly connected.
- Replace float switch: If the switch tests bad with a multimeter, replace the upper tank float switch.
