Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked drain pan outlet, Improper indoor unit leveling, Failed condensate pump (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the indoor unit. Water may spill when opening panels.
- Inspect and clean drain line: Locate the PVC or vinyl drain line from the York indoor unit. Use a wet/dry vacuum at the outside termination to suck out sludge and algae. Flush with warm water and a small amount of mild bleach if local codes allow.
- Check drain pan: Remove the front cover and filters. Inspect the drain pan for standing water, algae, or debris. Clean thoroughly and ensure the outlet is clear.
- Verify unit is level: Use a level to confirm the indoor unit is slightly pitched toward the drain outlet. Adjust mounting if necessary.
- Condensate pump (if used): Check that the pump reservoir is clean and the float switch moves freely. If the pump does not run when the reservoir fills, replace the condensate pump.
- Reset error: After clearing the blockage and drying the pan, restore power and test cooling operation.
