Possible Causes
Failed ECM blower motor, Loose blower harness, Faulty blower control on furnace/air handler board, Seized blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the furnace or air handler at the breaker and service switch.
- Inspect blower compartment: Remove the blower access panel. Check for debris or insulation interfering with the blower wheel.
- Check wiring harness: Reseat the multi‑pin connector between the ECM blower motor and the York control board. Look for burned pins.
- Spin blower wheel: Rotate the wheel by hand. If it binds or scrapes, remove and clean or replace the wheel and check for housing damage.
- Test motor: If you have the proper test module or harness, follow York procedures to test the ECM motor. If it fails to run, replace the blower motor assembly.
- If motor is good: The furnace/air handler control board may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
